Question: How do I change the number of Rx's to print per sheet of paper?

Answer: You can set all your printing preferences from within BluefishRx. Launch BluefishRx and tap the 'Menus' link. Select the 'Preferences Printing' from within the 'Options' drop down menu. Within this screen you can select the number of Rx's per sheet. If you don't want the patient log to print on the same sheet select '1' and the log will print on the second sheet. When you want to print 4 Rx's per sheet select '4' and the log will always print as after the last Rx.

Question: How do I transfer BluefishRx to a new handheld? I want to use a new hot sync name and not restore everything from my old handheld.

Hot sync your handheld to put the latest backup on your desktop. Find your handheld's backup directory on your desktop. This is where a copy of all your handheld's files are stored.

Open 'My Documents' from the 'Start' menu and tap the 'Folders' button in the top of the window. In the left column tap the '+' next to 'My computer'. Tap the '+' next to 'Local Disk (C:)'. Tap the '+' next to 'Program Files'. Tap the '+' next to 'palmOne'.

You will now see a list of folders. One of these folders will be your user name for your handheld. Tap the '+' next to this folder. You will now see a folder named 'Backup'. Tap that folder. In this folder you will find as many as 40 files starting with BFRx...... Copy all these files and paste them to a new folder. Also find and copy the InkToolsDB.pdb file to this folder.

Note: This is the default location of your backup folder although you may have chosen another location or this defauly location may have changed. An alternative way to find your backup folder is to search for files on your harddisk starting with 'BFRx'. Search 'BFRx*.*'.

Now after installing BluefishRx on your new handheld, hot sync all the files in this folder to your new device.

Question: The text on the printed prescriptions is very small, how can I fix this?

If the text on the Rx is printing too small it is likely an issue with your printer and the printer driver you have selected within BluefishRx. If you are using an HP DeskJet printer try selecting the HP LaserJet and compatible driver as this often works better than the DeskJet driver.

BluefishRx uses Bachmanns PrintBoy print engine. Check their site for a list of printers and compatible drivers. We strongly recommend an HP LaserJet or compatible printer for best results.

DeskJet printers while having a low upfront cost are very expensive to run and will often produce poor results.

Question: What printer would you recommend for printing Rx's?

We strongly recommend the use of LaserJet printers over inkjet or style printers. While inkjet printers have a very low up front cost they are expensive to run and often do not produce good results with the handheld print drivers available from PrintBoy (the print engine used in BluefishRx). Some printers will not work at all.

The HP LaserJet 1320 is an excellent printer that is reliable, fast, cheap to run and easy to setup. It is compatible with the IR adapter recommended below. The Lexmark E232 LaserJet is also a good low cost LaserJet.

Most modern printers don't have built in IR support and require an IR adapter. We have tested and recommend the ACT-IR100M IR adapter. It is available from the following URL. http://www.actisys.com/actir100.html. Some lower cost printers will not have a parallel port and so will not accept the above IR adapter. Other printers may have the parallel port in an inaccessible position within the printer making it impossible to attach the above IR adapter. Check with printer compatibility before purchasing.

The IR adapter simply plugs into the Centronics port on your printer. The adapter has a pass through plug that lets you keep it connected to the network. To print you simply sit the adapter on top of your printer and point your Palms IR port at the adapter while tapping the print button in BluefishRx. The working distance will vary but is generally around 4 feet.

Question: What handhelds do you recommend for use with BluefishRx?

Answer:

BluefishRx currently supports only the Palm OS type handhelds, which include devices made by Palm, Sony, Handspring, Kyocera, and Samsung among others. We recommend a handheld with an ARM processor and at least 16MB of memory. Almost every handheld sold from 2004 onwards meets these criteria. BluefishRx will work on lesser devices although you are likely to find yourself restricted quickly by memory and speed constraints. The Palm Tungsten E2 is a good entry-level model.

Wireless handhelds are the way of the future and if your budget allows we would strongly recommend the Palm Tx or Palm Treo 650, 680 or 700p model smart phones.

For users not familiar with graffiti text entry the Treo models come with in-built keyboards that make data entry fast and easy.

Question: I can't find the answer to my question here. How do I contact you?

If you need help troubleshooting an installation please email us at support@bluefishRx.com. We will normally respond within 12 hours. Please include your device type, amount of free memory and a phone contact number. If you have an AOL email address please add the above email to your whitelist. We have great difficulties contacting customers with AOL email addresses so if you have an alternative email please use that. If you have not heard from us within 24 hours it is likely that our email has gone astray.

Question: How do I transfer my BluefishRx data to my new handheld?

Answer:

Every time you hot sync your handheld your entire patient, Rx and Charge data is backed up to your PC. If you lose your handheld it is a simple process to restore your data to your new handheld.

To restore your data simply put the new handheld in its cradle and press the hot sync button. You will be asked to select a current User Name or create a new one for the device. Select the User Name you used with your old device. All the data will be restored to the new device automatically.

You will need to email us unlock@bluefishRx.com before accessing your patient data. This is a security feature required by a number of states to prevent unauthorized access to your patient data. We will send you a special file to hot sync to your Palm. This file will unlock the program (you will need to enter your password if you are using the BluefishRx encryption features).

Alternatively if you want to use a new user name you can find your specific patient, log and favorites data in the backup directory for your Palm device. Copying these files and hot syncing them to your new device will restore all your data. Copy all the files beginning with BFRx and hot sync them to your new device. Also copy the InkToolsDB.pdb file and hot sync it to your handheld. The backup directory is usually found on your desktop in the Program Files > Palm > Hot sync name folder.

Question: Can I print a log of Rx's that I have written?

Answer:

There is a report option to print only the Rx's written that day. There is also an option to print from the last Rx report or to print the entire Rx log. You should periodically purge the Rx log so that it doesn't become to large however you will lose the history if you delete it.

You can access the reports by tapping 'Menu', 'Reports' and then select the report option you are looking for.

Question: When we synchronize our handhelds the Rx's don't appear to be transferred.

Answer:

The patient active drug list is not transferred when you sync data between handhelds. The Rx log and patient data are synchronized. If you go to the patient active list and tap the log icon in the top of the screen you will see the Rx's written for that patient.

The patient active drug list is not synchronized because of the risk of getting this data out of sync.

Question: How do I import my patient data into my handheld from my patient management system?

Please download our user manual and patient import tool from http://www.bluefishrx.com/DesktopTools.htm. The patient import tool includes detailed information on importing your patient data from your patient management system.

You will need to export your patient demographics to a CSV file that can then be easily manipulated with Microsoft Excel. CSV stands for Comma Separated Value and is a very simple form of storing data. Almost all patient management systems have the capability to export patient demographic data to a CSV file.

Question: I am not receiving any emails notifying me of failed faxed Rx's.

Your email provider is likely bouncing our failure emails. You should add support@bluefishwireless.com to your contacts within your email system as this allow these emails through your system.

Question: What is a DEA#? I don't have one.

Answers:

Most of our software is purchased by US based doctors and we use their DEA# for registration. If you have a DEA# please send it to me otherwise can you please send me your Hot Sync name. We can use this in place of the DEA# to generate your serial number.

You can find your Hot Sync name by tapping the 'HotSync' icon on your Palm's launcher page. The Hot Sync name is in the top right of the screen.

Question: I don't have a DEA# or I am not using the prescription writer module.

Answer:

We can use your HotSync ID instead of a DEA# to generate a serial number. Please e-mail this to me, and I will send you your registration number.

You can find your HotSync ID by going to the Applications (home) screen and tapping the HotSync icon. The HotSync ID, also known as your username, is in the top right of the screen in the HotSync app.

Question: I entered the serial number and get an invalid serial number message.

Answer:

Check that your DEA# is entered correctly in the ‘User Details’ section of BluefishRx. You get to ‘User Details’ by tapping the menu button (or tap close to the top of the screen while on the home page of BluefishRx.) Tap ‘User Details’ and then enter your name, DEA# and email address. When you enter your serial number in the ‘Register’ screen it will display your DEA# in the field above.

The serial number is most commonly rejected because the DEA# has either not been entered or entered incorrectly in the ‘User Details.’ There should be no spaces at the front of the DEA#, in between the letters or numbers or after the last number. It is often difficult to see whether
there are leading or trailing spaces. Try deleting the whole number and reentering it. Check to see whether you have the letter 'O' where you should have the number zero '0'. After the first two letters of the DEA# all the rest are numbers.

Question: Why do you ask for my DEA# when registering?

At Bluefish Wireless we understand your concerns regarding the privacy and confidentiality of your DEA#. We have two reasons for asking for your DEA#.

1. We need to confirm that you are authorized to write prescriptions. If you have purchased the coding tools alone you can supply us with your hot sync name as an alternative to your DEA#.

2. We will use your DEA# to generate your unlock code which in turn is used to create a unique key to encrypt your patient data. This is important as many people have generic hot sync names and common first and last names.

The DEA# ensures we have a unique identifier which is crucial for synchronization of patient data between handhelds. If you are a solo practitioner this may not be important but in a multiple physician practice guaranteeing the uniqueness of this key is crucial. When designing
BluefishRx we determined that the best way of achieving this was to use the users DEA#.

Question: How do I register BluefishRx

Answer: Please email your DEA#, full name, address and contact number to register@bluefishrx.com. We will send you your serial number within 24 hours. Please add support@bluefishwireless.com to your contact list to ensure that our emails get through your email providers spam filters.

If you have not received your serial number within 24 hours please check your spam folder. Email us again with a contact phone number.

If you don't have a DEA# or don't want to supply us with your DEA# you can send us your hot sync name. If you intend to use the BluefishRx Prescription Writer and are a US based Physician you should send us your DEA#.

Once you have received your serial number, launch BluefishRx on your handheld. Tap the register button and follow the instructions.

Question: My printer has worked fine and all of a sudden I can't print Rx's via IR

Answer:

If you haven't made any changes to the handheld printer preferences it is likely that the IR port on either the printer or the handheld has locked up. To fix this issue soft reset your handheld and power the printer (and IR adapter) off for 30 seconds.

This will restore the IR port and likely fix your printing issue.
